While Missouri S&T is currently operating remotely due to the COVID-19 emergency Equity and Title IX will continue to provide services.  We will continue to take complaints, conduct investigations and hold hearings via phone and Zoom videoconference.  To contact Title IX, please email us at equity@mst.edu, or call us at 573-341-7734.

The UM System’s collected rules prohibiting discrimination on the basis of gender (Title IX), and any other protected class (equity) extend off campus, and in all virtual spaces where university business (education, meetings, advising sessions, etc.) is held. While in some instances it may be challenging for the university to investigate when a situation occurs off campus, accommodations can still be provided.

Equity and Title IX is charged with ensuring Missouri S&T’s compliance with University of Missouri System policies and procedures, state and federal statutes and regulations, in the areas of Title IX, civil rights, and equal opportunity. The department serves as a resource to students, faculty, and staff in education, prevention, and investigation of sexual violence, as well as other possible violations of the university’s non-discrimination policies. In addition to these efforts, the office of Equity and Title IX facilitates the development of a more diverse, inclusive campus through its administration of the university’s Affirmative Action Plan and assurance of Equal Opportunity in faculty and staff recruiting efforts. Equity and Title IX also works with current faculty, staff, and visitors to the university in appropriately exercising their rights under the Americans with Disabilities Act.

As stated in its applicable rules and policies, the University of Missouri does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national origin, ancestry, religion, sex, pregnancy, sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, age, disability, protected veteran status, or any other status protected by applicable state or federal law.  The University affirms its commitment to providing equal opportunities by establishing the Equal Opportunity Policy statement in Section 600.010 of the Collected Rules and Regulations. The University's nondiscrimination policies apply to any phase of its employment process, any phase of its admission or financial aid programs, and other aspects of its educational programs or activities. Additionally, this policy and the existing Title IX policies apply to allegations of sexual misconduct or allegations of other forms of sex discrimination, as defined in Section 600.020C, occurring within the University’s educational programs and activities and instances occurring in other settings, including off-campus if there are effects of the conduct that interfere with or limit students’ ability to participate in or benefit from the University’s educational programs and activities.
